Michele Anderson launched The Wine Angel in 2003. The Wine Angel is an import business dedicated to providing great Australian wines to discerning U.S. consumers at modest prices.

As Michele so happily reports ...."Australia is fast approaching being the largest source of imported wine in the U.S. and now that there is such broad awareness of Australian wine among consumers, they are looking for the very best of what Australia has to offer."

The Wine Angel Portfolio includes nine different wine brands from a range of top Australian wine regions. There are more than thirty-five different wines across a diverse selection of wine varieties. Within the portfolio there is an emphasis on wines with more elegance and finesse than the more ¡®typical¡¯ Australian wines. This elegance comes from either a cooler climate vineyard location or from winemaking practices. While there are Wine Angel wines that show great intensity of color, aromas, and flavors, you won¡¯t find any ¡®kick in the head reds¡¯ with overly sweet fruit or high alcohol in the portfolio.

Michele, who lives in New York City, is an Australian who has lived in the U.S. since 1991 and has spent most of her career to date specializing in the marketing, sales and distribution of consumer and retailed entertainment products. Her passion for wine emerged almost twenty years ago when she worked her way through law school as a part-time hostess and sommelier at the flagship restaurant in Sydney's Regent Four Seasons Hotel.

Michele's ten years' experience with Booz-Allen & Hamilton in marketing and distribution working with multiple consumer product categories coupled with her media brand building expertise enable her to bring a fresh perspective and unique approach to launching and growing successful wine brands.

Michele received her Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Law from the University of NSW in Australia and her MBA from the Wharton School. She also holds the Diploma in Wine and Spritis from the Wine and Spirits Education Trust and is a first year Master of Wine candidate..

Laura Robinson, who recently joined the Wine Angel team, is our head of sales. Previously a Sommelier at Gramercy Tavern in New York City, Laura joins us after spending five years building the wine sales of another Australian wine importer, where she spread her passion for Australian wine to buyers in the East Coast and MidWest regions. The quality and positioning of the wines in The Wine Angel portfolio sparked her interest in joining Wine Angel. Here, she plays a broad role, working actively with our wineries and driving marketing and sales strategy.

Laura is a native of Australia who began her career at the Ritz Carlton in Sydney and began to narrow her focus towards wine whilte working at Rockpool and Bel Mondo in the late nineties before joining Gramercy Tavern. Her experience in various facets of the wine industry has already made her a huge asset to our company and we are thrilled to have her leading our sales efforts.

Laura lives with her husband Scott Elder in Rochester. As her friends report, she's on the road so much that Scott can be sure of a long and happy marriage.
